HOW THE CHARITY STARTED

Bruce Green is a dedicated philanthropist and for many years has supported local charities in Northamptonshire. Bruce is also a film critic for BBC Radio.

Twenty plus years ago, Bruce was at a cinema together with a young family who were in the front row. Their young son with autism became very excited and expressive. Other Theatre goers sent for the Manager who asked the parents to calm the little boy – so the family felt they had no choice but to leave, leaving them feeling excluded and stigmatised .

Bruce felt there had to be a better way for all to enjoy the collective therapy of films - this is where it all began in 2018.

OUR WORK

After our original system of arranging school trips to local cinemas was disrupted by Covid-19, we adapted and now focus on bringing the cinema experience directly to young people in the comfort and familiarity of their own school.

We purchased a vehicle to carry a powerful projector and a huge inflatable cinema screen, along with professional sound equipment, to deliver an authentic cinema experience to local youth.

We endeavour to screen films that are both entertaining and enriching for young minds, selecting stories that have affirming and inspirational messages.

Put simply, the Foundation takes children and young people from challenging home and educational backgrounds and gives them a chance to experience collective entertainment, to gain confidence and reignite smiles - now that’s a great idea!
